| | About the CSO Scoring System A score of 100 points is the goal. Half of the points is based on the performance of the selected system. The other half is based on the quality of the process they use to develop the plan. To get a high score, a CSO community will need to do the following: - Design for less than one overflow per year.
- Ensure dissolved oxygen levels meet standards continuously.
- Involve stream users and residents in neighborhoods along streams impacted by CSOs in setting goals and considering alternatives.
- Consider a broad range of alternatives —especially options that address industrial operations.
- Make sensitive areas and environmental justice concerns a priority.
- Meet water quality standards.
- Stop making problem worse by allowing new connections on overloaded lines.
