Indy's CSO Presentation
by Environmental Groups
In October of 1999, five Indianapolis environmental groups made a computer generated presentation explaining in plain terms the problems with the City of Indianapolis' Combined Sewer Overflows.
The environmental groups are:
- Audubon Society - Amos Butler Chapter
- Hoosier Environmental Council
- Improving Kids' Environment
- Protect Our Rivers Now!
- Sierra Club - Heartlands Group
At the time, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management was preparing to issue an NPDES permit that addressed the CSOs. The City of Indianapolis had filed a lawsuit against IDEM to stop the issuance of the permit. And the City of Indianapolis was claiming that compliance with the CSO provisions would cost $8,000,000.
