2003 Indiana Lead-Safe and Healthy Homes Conference

October 15 & 16, 2003

Attention Out-Of-State Licensed Lead Professionals!

Are you interested in getting licensed as a risk assessor, lead supervisor, abatement contractor, or other lead professional in Indiana?  We need you in Indiana, especially in the counties on Indiana's border.  In the past, you could only get licensed without retaking the initial training course if your training course provider was accredited in Indiana.

Indiana's latest revisions to its licensing rules change that.  If you have a lead license from EPA or another state, you do not have to get your trainer to become accredited in Indiana.  You only need to take a two-hour Indiana Rules Awareness course and then apply to Indiana Department of Environmental Management for your license.  Naturally, you will have to still submit documentation that you are properly licensed, complete an application and pay the $150 fee for the three-year Indiana license.

To make it easier to get you working in Indiana, the Environmental Management Institute has agreed to offer the Indiana Rules Awareness Course at the conference at no extra fee.  You need to attend the Indiana Rules:  Hoosier Variations breakout session from 2:40 to 4:50 on Wednesday, October 15.

To be eligible for the training, you must notify Tom Neltner at mccabe@ikecoalition.org of your plans so EMI can properly document your participation.

The Indiana Rule that provides this option goes into effect on October 10, 2003.  The rule will be included in the October 1, 2003 Indiana Register. We fully expect to have the course approval in time for the conference.
