Why a Lead-Safe Indiana Newsletter?

At the December 12, 2001 Task Force meeting, the Lead-Safe Indiana Task Force decided that it needed a newsletter sent out at least every other month.  With the success of the 2001 conference, it was clear that hundreds of people are now involved in protecting Hoosier children from lead poisoning, so the Task Force needed a good means to keep them involved.  The Task Force was using the IKE newsletter in the past but space was tight so the issues did not get the coverage it deserved.  In addition, the Task Force may benefit from an identity more distinct from IKE.

Here are the key features of the new newsletter:

·                    Who writes it?  IKE agreed to be the editor.  But anyone can contribute.  Just e-mail Janet McCabe at mccabe@ikecoalition.org

·                    E-mail only? To keep costs done, we decided to model it off of the Alliance for Healthy Homes (AFHH) newsletter.  It is sent out by e-mail with links to webpages for more information. This approach allows the Task Force to save not only printing costs but also the significant investment in time formatting the text in a publication.  Feel free to forward it to others.

But what about fax?  I would be glad to fax it out to people who don’t have email or really need a hard copy but you will need to tell me who you are.  It is a bit more work but . . .  what the heck, you are worth it! Anyone can ask to get a copy by fax by emailing me at mccabe@ikecoalition.org.
