Protecting children from lead poisoning has hit high gear for IKE. IKE is approaching the problem from many angles. Things are starting to come together.

The highlight is a draft, 18-page report to Indiana’s Governor Frank O’Bannon making three general recommendations and ten specific recommendations to enhance the State’s effort. Each specific recommendation includes action steps to achieve the goal. IKE is seeking comments on the draft by April 12 before finalizing the proposal.  

IKE is asking the Governor to respond to the recommendations at the Indiana Statewide Lead Poisoning Conference on May 11.

The Task Force is always looking for input, ideas and volunteers. Plan to attend upcoming meetings of the IKE Task Force. All meetings are at the Marion County Health Department on Indy’s Northside. Everyone is welcome!
