Funding Cuts Undermining Neighborhood Support Network

The Citizen’s Multi-Service Center stands as the foundation for the neighborhood especially with the opening of its Community Resource Center and building rehabilitation.  The Citizen’s Health Center and the King Park Area Development Corporation provide support for health and housing.  The Christian Neighborhood Legal Clinic provides an important backstop for residents.  The organizations appear to work well together to provide a network of services.

Funding cuts at the Citizen’s Multi-Service Center have forced the Center to cut-back on the services it provides to the residents of the Kennedy-King Park Neighborhood.  The Center cannot support and educate the residents as effectively as just two years ago.

While CHHI has been focused on housing, you cannot separate the people and the housing.  Cuts in social services and education make safe, healthy and affordable housing even more difficult to achieve.
